Where Is Everybody?
I’ve enjoyed this NYTimes article by Michelle Slatalla, ‘Where Is Everybody? The Gang at a Glance’, which describes her unsuccessful efforts to convince her family to use an online family calendar…at least in the way she would have liked them to use it…
The article shows that online technology is not always the best way to do things, especially when it requires too much input and when not everyone is aboard. It also shows how technology is (or can be) appropriated by people in different ways not necessarily mentioned ‘on the tin’. But my favorite phrase is the following:
[…]warned me not to pin my hopes on a technological solution to a problem that may have different roots.
